It has caused me to believe I am capable and able of anything if I am able to endure the lessons the cold brings. I’ve learned that the cold is stimulating and causes for an immediate response. I can’t stand in one place long yet I am mindful about how to maintain balance while moving swiftly. Like life, I am learning balance in the swiftness occurring around me. I am learning to honor where I stand but plan how to move effectively and safely to another space, closer to my destination. Being barefoot in the cold has taught me to be more mindful of the herbs I take so that my body is equipped to handle the conditions. Mother Nature has taught me the importance of building endurance and working towards a goal mentally prior to achieving it physically. I knew that I would have to walk in the snow and ice while being in Connecticut. I mentally prepared and reminded myself that this is the journey I chose to accept. I move through the world baring my soles. I’ve learned a lot about my tolerance in this journey. I have learned what I am willing to tolerate from humans, from Mother Nature, and from my reality. I give thanks for the ability to learn how to mentally prepare for the various realities that I experience when I bare my soul through this world. I started to embrace the idea that I can do anything when I began walking barefoot in all types of weather. I began to embrace that my mind was the only thing prohibiting me from accomplishing what my body had the strength to do. This summer I walked in 113 degree weather. This winter I walked in 11 degree weather in the snow in Chicago. I no longer have to convince myself that I can do anything. I’m walking around in Knowing I can do anything.
