As the UK is seemingly imminent in melting into the Atlantic Ocean, it seems appropriate to wile away the hours left before oblivion by listening to some Bardo Pond. And what a way to see in the heat apocalypse than with their classic psychedelic headfuck epic 'Amanita'... For the uninitiated, the title refers to a species of mushroom that has hallucinogenic properties, the full name is Amanita Muscaria, or more commonly known as Fly Agaric, a family of mushrooms that are poisonous, but rarely fatal, so it is wise to be sure of what you are doing with regard to these mushrooms before considering consuming one... Bardo Pond are a band whose music lends itself fully to the whole psychedelic experience, with their songs being quite specific in how they relate to the experience. In the same way as Spacemen 3 described their own experiences with drugs and psychedelics, so it is with Bardo Pond. Plying their trade for over 30 years now, they have always been happy to just blaze their own trail along the way, with a dedicated following lapping up the beautiful sounds they create...a Bardo Pond show is a joyous, delirious and sublime experience, with Isobel's soft, languid voice buried under sheets of guitar noise, creating a dense wall of sound, an almost trance inducing barrage, interspersed with the whispering lilt of Isobel's flute, flitting in and out amid the maelstrom. Stuart Braithwaite from Mogwai once said he would to see Bardo Pond play Wembley stadium, because their sound is so huge, no room can contain it. #BardoPond #Amanita #colouredvinyl #IsobelSollenberger #MichaelGibbons #shoegaze #psychrock #JohnGibbons #ClintTakeda #JasonKourkoumis #matadorrecords (at Kings Norton, Birmingham, United Kingdom) https://www.instagram.com/p/CgIOrICov3w/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
