Enough, Mercedes! Stop acting like an innocent little girl, please! Do you think your life is unfair? Welcome, because that’s how life is. It’s unfair, and it’s difficult, it’s miserable. A lot of times one might think it isn’t worth living it, but you have to keep going until the end. What are you so afraid of? Tell me. That people might not understand you? To be judged? Or that the overpious old ladies of this fucking town point their fingers at you, calling you names? Or that they break your Catholic little girl heart? Look, Mechita, I understand you because that’s how we were educated, okay? We were taught that love was tortuous, that it comes with time, sometimes it never came. And of course, the rule that no one should break- that love is between a man and a woman. None of this is true, Mechita. Everything is a vile lie.

Everything happened so fast. It started as a friendship. I never thought- It never crossed my mind that something else could happen between us. It’s been so difficult, Elsa…Lying every day to my Dad, to my brothers, to my friends, to my students….And everything would be so different if I didn’t feel what I’m feeling.
