Grillside Summer Sipping
One of our favorite parts of summer is entertaining by the grill. Whether you’re the host or among the guests, picking a fun and easy-drinking bottle of wine will make a casual barbecue even more cheerful. White wines are an easy choice on hot summer days. You can’t go wrong with something light-bodied and crisp, like Twin Vines Vinho Verde, Bottega Vinaia Pinot Grigio or Rocca delle Macie Occhio a Vento Vermentino. In addition to being extremely refreshing, they are also incredibly versatile pairings with salads, seafood, chicken, and grilled vegetables. If you are a red wine fan, you don’t have to wait until the fall to enjoy wine again. Just choose a light -bodied grape such as Pinot Noir. Elegant and flavorful, Arrogant Frog Pinot Noir [Lily Pad Noir] can be served slightly chilled and it pairs beautifully with barbecue fare. (Scroll down to read our summer reds feature from June!) Summer entertaining wouldn’t be the same without burgers and hot dogs. In addition to making any occasion more festive, sparkling wines are also the perfect companion to hot dogs. To ensure burger lovers also get their share of bubbles, go with Marquis de La Tour Rosé – a delicate and fresh French sparkling wine that has enough oomph to stand up to both burgers and hot dogs. For something new and exciting this summer, be on the lookout for Callia Bella. Launched this summer, this artisanal red blend of Syrah & Malbec was especially crafted to be served chilled. It has enticing notes of raspberry and chocolate with a touch of sweetness and a silky finish.
