Joan Blondell gets a perm in publicity portraits from the Samuel Goldwyn Productions/Lowell Sherman pre-code comedy The Greeks Had a Word for Them (aka: Three Broadway Girls), 1932. Seen with Joan in pic two are Ina Claire and Barbara Weeks. The contraption Blondell's hooked up to was a permanent wave machine, the latest in 1930s beauty tools which created curls after chemicals were applied to the hair and treated with electrified heat clamps. Fun Fact: This movie was later re-made as How to Marry a Millionaire starring Marilyn Monroe, Lauren Bacall, and Betty Grable in 1953.
