Balloon flower - #balloonflowers are named because their bloom starts out looking like a purple, white or blue balloon. The opened #flowers resemble those of #bellflowers, their kissing cousin. And depending on where you are, the #balloonflower may also be known as Chinese or Japanese #bellflower.
Accidentally killed all my new poppy seedlings this morning 😢 So I decided to prep. more Balloon Flower seeds instead. Poppies sprout easily enough but are so delicate. The Balloon Flowers seem to be picky about if they’ll sprout, but once they do they’re very hardy! So far I have 3 balloon flowers growing happily! To induce quick germination i freeze my seeds in ice cube trays for a minimum of 4 days, then place the seed-containing “cubes” onto the top of soil/worm castings. Depending on the seed type I’ll lightly coat the ice with soil.
