Voicemail of Kat:  [beep] Hey babe. I locked myself out of my apartment and the landlord isn’t picking up his phone. Not surprised, but - Ugh, I don’t even know how I did this. I think I might of left my key at Luxure, but that’s so unlike me. Anyway, I’m rambling, because I’m high, so anyway, I was wondering if I could sleep over. I totally understand if the squirt is there and it’s too late for that. I can call Derek or something maybe. For now, I’ll be in the hall. Okay, bye.

“The right side? As in morally? That ship sailed a long time ago. Now if you’re talking about the right side ala the winning side... My biggest concerns are myself and my own goals. The Vittori have helped me achieve some of those- but the moment they become irrelevant... well, you don’t hold onto broken things, do you?” 

“Scared? Yeah — not of like, spiders, or whatever. Used to be scared of the dark when I was younger. Don’t think I’m really scared of things anymore. Certain responsibilities, maybe. Keeping people safe.”

His lips stretched into somewhat of a smile. “That’s deep, esé.” With another sip of whatever burning liquor had been poured into his glass, Mason shrugged. “I guess having your family ripped away from you the same way you’re ripping away family from others now really... fucks you up, huh?”
