Stefania from Romania

"I photographed Stefania in 2020, in her village in Gorj County, Romania. She inherited this old, georgeous outfit from her grandmother and she’s wearing it on special occasions. Besides being passionate about the folk culture, she also loves technology, that’s why she studies robotics."

The Balkans - from Sušak (eastern part of Rijeka/Fiume) to the Bosphorous.

In reference to my previous post.

“After crossing the bridge over Rječina, a completely different world began, a world that - so to speak - ended at the Bosphorus: the Balkans, in all meanings of the term, geographic and political. Everything was simpler, poorer and dustier. Different faces, different voices, different sounds and like a violence in the air."

È strano... non sono cresciuta in Albania, ci vado qualche volta d'estate visto che i miei genitori e gran parte dei miei parenti sono albanesi, ma pur non essendo mai stata una patriota ostinata, sono molto ma molto dispiaciuta per quello che è successo in Albania, mi piange il cuore...
