Ghost Town Blues Went on a field trip to Bakersfield, CA birth town of my gf @kim_durham ‘s father the great Wayne Durham and home to a rich and diverse musical history that includes artists from country legend Merle Haggard to rock bands like Korn. Within Bakersfield, you can visit the Kern County Museum and it’s pioneer village, with over 50 buildings of the 19th century. The experience was haunting and beautiful (curiously enough there was a paranormal investigation to be conducted a few days later) and I even got to see a Masonic lodge they have stored there. The energy in that place is wildly intense. I had a lot of fun, met the amazing Phil Hernandez who is a master guitar player and old friend of Wayne, and got to see the beautiful downtown alive and brimming with energy. All in all it was a great trip and I’m honored to have had the opportunity to know it. Intro & why ada compliance? Ada is an acronym for the americans with disabilities act, which requires business and website owners to make accomodations for people with disabilities in all their web content. that is, all web content should be accessible to the blind, deaf, and those who must navigate by voice, screen readers or other assistive technologies. this law has been in force for over a decade but has been fairly dormant until 2018 when a supreme court judgement was passed on a wbsite owner for non compliance. This caused a sudden surge in businessand website owners being sued for none complance with ada and since then; 1. over1,500 legal cases related to non-accessibility compliance issues were filled in new york in 2018. 2. more than 10,000 websites sued nationwide in 2019 for ther website not being ada compliant. this number is expected to hit 100k by 2021. 3. most business/website owners sued for non-compliance pay between $20k-$200k as out of court settlement. a recent settlement was $6m.
