"It... It seems my intuition was correct... if only I had... arrived s...."
"General..." Faintly she breathed, cerulean orbs blurred in focus as blood trickled down her once fair forehead. Slender form rested back against the hard wall behind her, arms clutching onto the young figure within her hold. Sapphire locks scattered around her shoulders in gentle manner, despite her beaten up form, hidden within the walls of an abandoned temple, hushing the young child with all that she had. What an unexpected situation this was, for the prideful enemies of Cao-Wei empire to not only slay one, but two veteran characters at the same time during this almost-failed rescue mission. A pity, a disgrace, indeed.
It did not start off as a rescue mission, however, but rather a mission to obliterate, to destroy the force that were causing calamity upon the land. Unfortunately, the mission went wrong, and his son, Li Zhen, was caught in between, turning the duo to change plans immediately in order to save the boy. Although the two of them were exceptionally skilled in swordsmanship, it was but the two of them against many, being the older warrior decided that the rescue of his son should not be a distraction to other officers, while the younger aristocrat warned him that he could not do this alone, and followed behind. She was right, sadly, and after being forced to separate temporary, the duo now reunion in a bloodbath of one another, and their enemies around.
"...Ah..This is..humiliating.." Cao Ang mumbled softly, noticing Li Zhen's shivering ceasing, as if the boy's shock could no longer make him move. She simply gave him a smile, however, before glancing at the boy's father in weak manner. "..Zhen, listen..Your father and I..won't probably make it..S-Shh....I can hear Yue Jin's voice from here, Zhen..You have to go.. M-Maybe, lead him here or something..B-But..You need to leave, Zhen..You can't stay here any longer."
"B-But..I-I can't.." Zhen struggled to speak, clouded orbs of his filed with tears. He did move over to his father, however, attempting to wake him up and requesting for words of hope. Much to his dismay, none escaped his lips at all, causing the young lad to turn back to Ang, who was also passing in and out of consciousness. The boy was left with no choice but to run afterwards, away from his father, away from the both of them.
Once he has left, Dian could weakly felt his princess' hand placing on top of his in gentle manner as she breathed hard yet again, azure orbs facing upwards into the evening sky. "..Hey..Look..The stars are out tonight, General..I-I suppose we get..to watch them together again tonight, mhm..? H-Hey..You know...I-I think that..." What could be felt after was her head, rested upon his shoulder as she clutched onto his fingers for a brief amount of time, before letting them go completely and let them fall upon his own digits before she passed on. Her final words lingered within his ears temporary though, before the general himself followed closely behind.
It would be nice, to be beside you again in another life, Mancheng.
