Imagine that, in the course of taking what you want, you cause real or imagined harm to another. Does badgerism include the concept of absolution or is there no sin to begin with?
This is an excellent question. It raises an important point and I have taken a lot of time to think on it to ensure a satisfying answer. Honey Badgerism can be taken as a stand alone faith, but it also fits with any other form of religion in that we do not care what you choose to believe it is your choice. That being said, you could poll 10 honey badgers on honey badgerism and get 10 different answers.Â
As a stand alone faith, there is no âsin.â We believe in the 3 main points of the Honey Badger. For those unfamiliar with the popular youtube video, they are as follows: 1. Honey Badger donât care. 2. Honey Badger donât give a shit. 3. Honey Badger takes what he wants. Now while this question pertains to the third point more than the rest, it is important to understand the whole picture to understand how we can fit these principles into our lives.
Honey Badger donât care:Â A honey badger has no real fear. He doesnât care if you are a mighty lion. That is his food and he will chase you off. He doesnât care if the bees are deadly, he needs to eat. The honey badger lives his life the way he needs to live it to survive without concern for what other people think of him or his actions.
The thing to remember when applying this and the other two points of Honey Badgerism is that we are human and as such, have access to far more tools, resources, and intelligence than the Honey Badger. Where a honey badger has to be destructive to obtain his food, we have other options. We can be creative.
Honey Badger donât give a shit: This is mostly the same as the first point. It is repeated in a slightly different wording to point out the importance. The honey badger really doesnât care who you are. Donât mess with him. Donât mess with the honey badger and you will not be messed with.Â
Honey Badger takes what he wants: Here is the real meat of this question. The honey badger roams the middle east and africa doing whatever he sees fit. Eating cobras and baby honey bees, chasing lions, trotting through the dessert just hanging out. As a human race, there are certain things we have deemed wrong. These are the things that the majority of people couldnât possibly think to do. Murder, rape, the blatant torture of another living being. It is easy to assume on the surface that, as a honey badger, you wouldnât care about these things and you would let these people take what they want, but that is simply not the case.Â
In order to take what you want as a human being, you must know, deep down, what you really want. Do you want to be self employed? If so, you would take that by starting a business. In order to start a business, there are other smaller steps to take. Do you want to live in a world where people act as a community and share ideas and thoughts? Take that by starting discussion groups and being neighborly.Â
If you only look at the small and immediate future, you will get the thing you want in the moment, but will not get anything long term. Do you want that candy bar? Take it! Now you are being prosecuted for shoplifting, have a criminal record, and are banned from that store. Were those things that you wanted? Because, ultimately, that is what you took when you took the candy bar.
To sum up and answer the question simply. There is no sin in Honey Badgerism and there is no absolution. There is a concept of cause and effect. If you take an action, you are responsible for the consequences. Remember to think about what you really want not just in the moment, but long time for your life and your happiness before taking an action. Are the consequences in line with what you wanted to begin with? If we all start thinking beyond now, the human potential for good can be realized and that is our main goal. To get people thinking beyond material possessions, race, creed, religion, or sexual preference. True happiness is a long, hard, and painful road, but honey badger donât care. He trucks on, keeping his eye on his true goal.Â
Under the hood
The battle rages on labor's day.
While labor's day is usually a bank holiday over here, some of us decided to come and work anyways...
... some of us.
