Ingredients: 1 cup all-purpose flour. 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder. 1 1/2 tsp baking powder. 1/2 tsp baking soda. 1/2 tsp salt. 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened. 1 cup granulated sugar. 2 large eggs. 1 tsp vanilla extract. 1/2 cup buttermilk. 1/2 cup brewed coffee, cooled. 6 strips of crispy bacon, crumbled. 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips. 1/2 cup chopped pecans optional. Whipped cream for garnish optional.
Instructions: Set the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit 175 degrees Celsius and grease a 9-inch round cake pan. Sift the flour, baking soda, baking powder, cocoa powder, and salt in a mixing bowl. Put aside. Beat the softened butter and granulated sugar in a separate bowl until they become light and fluffy. One egg at a time, beat in, and then mix in the vanilla extract. Alternately add the dry ingredients mixture and buttermilk to the wet ingredients, starting and ending with the dry mixture. Once the batter is smooth, stir in the brewed coffee that has cooled. Add the chopped pecans if using, semi-sweet chocolate chips, and crumbled bacon and mix until combined. After filling the cake pan, level the top with the batter. Bake for 30 to 35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean, in a preheated oven. After taking the cake out of the oven, allow it to cool in the pan for ten minutes before moving it to a wire rack to finish cooling. If desired, top the cake with more crumbled bacon and whipped cream after it has cooled completely. Enjoy this delicious Bacon-Laced Chocolate Cake after slicing and serving!
