Goodbye David Bowie :: All the Lyrics to BlackStar
Oh David Bowie. I had been listening to his new album ‘Blackstar’ all weekend, thinking this is such an incredible album. I’m glad we were graced with one last piece of art. Such a man with unrivaled creativity, he opened doors and challenged the ideals held down by so many in order to design his own rules. Whenever I think of David Bowie, all I can see is bright colors.. that’s how I’ll always remember him. A true legend. ✨⭐
I keep discovering a new song on the Blackstar album that I fall in love with again and again. “Lazerus”… a favorite song on the album as here he tells us he was leaving for heaven… the heavy bass line and crash of a single dirty guitar riff never sounded so right. Then in “I Can’t Give Everything Away”… how pleads powerfully as those words repeat over and over. His music, just like his life at this moment, has never sounded so poignant, final and tragically beautiful at the same time.
Released on David Bowie’s Birthday and only a few days before he died, those who were close and behind the makings explained to the world that this twenty-sixth final piece of work, was his parting gift.
Below are the lyrics to each song from Blackstar and a link to hear the music from each official video. Many have tried to discover a hidden message in each melody that carries a greater message than we know. However for now, as you listen to each word and sound, think of this as your own private mourning to David Bowie as this forever creative soul that we all have been greatly inspired and understood by.
In the villa of Ormen, in the villa of Ormen
Stands a solitary candle, ah-ah, ah-ah
In the centre of it all, in the centre of it all
On the day of execution, on the day of execution
Only women kneel and smile, ah-ah, ah-ah
At the centre of it all, at the centre of it all
In the villa of Ormen, in the villa of Ormen
Stands a solitary candle, ah-ah, ah-ah
In the centre of it all, in the centre of it all
Something happened on the day he died
Spirit rose a metre and stepped aside
Somebody else took his place, and bravely cried
(I’m a blackstar, I’m a blackstar)
How many times does an angel fall?
How many people lie instead of talking tall?
He trod on sacred ground, he cried loud into the crowd
(I’m a blackstar, I’m a blackstar, I’m not a gangstar)
I can’t answer why (I’m a blackstar)
Just go with me (I’m not a filmstar)
I’m-a take you home (I’m a blackstar)
Take your passport and shoes (I’m not a popstar)
And your sedatives, boo (I’m a blackstar)
You’re a flash in the pan (I’m not a marvel star)
I’m the Great I Am (I’m a blackstar)
I’m a blackstar, way up, on money, I’ve got game
I see right, so wide, so open-hearted pain
I want eagles in my daydreams, diamonds in my eyes
(I’m a blackstar, I’m a blackstar)
Something happened on the day he died
Spirit rose a metre then stepped aside
Somebody else took his place, and bravely cried
(I’m a blackstar, I’m a star’s star, I’m a blackstar)
I can’t answer why (I’m not a gangstar)
But I can tell you how (I’m not a film star)
We were born upside-down (I’m a star’s star)
Born the wrong way ‘round (I’m not a white star)
(I’m a blackstar, I’m not a gangstar
I’m a blackstar, I’m a blackstar
I’m not a pornstar, I’m not a wandering star
I’m a blackstar, I’m a blackstar)
In the villa of Ormen stands a solitary candle
At the centre of it all, your eyes
On the day of execution, only women kneel and smile
At the centre of it all, your eyes, your eyes
Sue (Or in a Season of Crime)
Sue, you said you want it written
Sue, the virgin on your stone
Why too dark to speak the words?
For, I know that you have a son
Ride the train, I’m far from home
In a season of crime none need atone
Sue, I’ve pushed you down beneath the weeds
Endless faith in hopeless deeds
That you wrote last night
Look up here, I’m in heaven
I’ve got scars that can’t be seen
I’ve got drama, can’t be stolen
Look up here, man, I’m in danger
I’ve got nothing left to lose
I’m so high, it makes my brain whirl
Dropped my cell phone down below
By the time I got to New York
Then I used up all my money
I was looking for your ass
Now, ain’t that just like me?
Cheena so sound, so titi up this malcheck, say
Party up moodge, nanti vellocet round on Tuesday
Real bad dizzy snatch making all the omeys mad — Thursday
Popo blind to the polly in the hole by Friday
Where the f— did Monday go?
I’m cold to this pig and pug show
I’m sittin’ in the chestnut tree
Who the f—‘s gonna mess with me?
Where the fuck did Monday go?
I’m cold to this pig and pug show
Where the fuck did Monday go?
Choodesny with the red rot
Devotchka watch her garbles
Spatchko at the rozz-shop
Split a ded from his deng deng
Viddy viddy at the cheena
Where the fuck did Monday go?
Where the fuck did Monday go?
Where the fuck did Monday go?
Where the fuck did Monday go?
Where the fuck did Monday go?
Cash girls suffer me, I’ve got no enemies
If I’ll never see the English evergreens I’m running to
Push their backs against the grain
And fool them all again and again
We bitches tear our magazines
Those oligarchs with foaming mouths phone
Don’t believe for just one second I’m forgetting you
Dollar days, survival sex
Honour stretching tails to necks
If I’ll never see the English evergreens I’m running to
Push their backs against the grain
And fool them all again and again
It’s all gone wrong but on and on
The bitter nerve ends never end
Don’t believe for just one second I’m forgetting you
’Tis a Pity She Was a Whore
Man, she punched me like a dude
Hold your mad hands, I cried
‘Tis a pity she was a whore
Black struck the kiss, she kept my c–k
Smote the mistress, drifting on
’Tis a pity she was a whore
She stole my purse, with rattling speed
‘Tis a pity she was a whore
Man, she punched me like a dude
Hold your mad hands, I cried
’Tis a pity she was a whore
‘Tis a pity she was a whore
’Tis a pity she was a whore
I Can’t Give Everything Away
I know something is very wrong
The pulse returns the prodigal
The blackout hearts, the flowered news
With skull designs upon my shoes
Seeing more and feeling less
Saying no but meaning yes
That’s the message that I sent
I know something is very wrong
The pulse returns the prodigal sons
The blackout hearts, the flowered news
With skull designs upon my shoes
