Day 6... welcome to Barovia!

Day 4 of Background blitz complete. I did the prompt room and I painted my own weirdly multicolored room.

Background Blitz day one, wilderness! I’m still pretty tired from work so I just tried to work on composition mostly today—I was thinking of theatre and wanted to literally set a stage—I thought that might help with placing things in the space better—I might come back and color this to really make it pop, but it’s good practice for now! #backgroundblitz #environments #illustration #inksketch #instaart

Background Blitz day 1: wilderness

Day 7! Made it! Here’s Finn’s bookshop from the comic I made in 2014. Thanks for making this event, @jayrockin!

I tried to do something smaller for yesterday’s background blitz and I started coloring it but that became tiring--so I made it mostly a lighting study too--I think another part that’s difficult about backgrounds is coloring, and the like. Drive overall to want to make backgrounds look realistic. But thinking about things like a scene in a play or a shot makes that all a lot easier, so maybe if I do the next one in monotone colors and create a FEEL rather than realism that’ll make it easier too.
