Headcanon: Back Markings
Vanitas has back markings that are more of the tribal style. They spread over his shoulders and halfway down his back. These are actually markings that he was born with. They increased in size as he grew and he never really payed much mind to the fact that they are there because he forgets that it isn't natural for people to have them. This is something that he has to be reminded of sometimes, being that everyone in his family that was a born demon has back markings, though they each vary depending on the sibling's personality. Vanitas is usually the calm, collected one that is rather rebellious at times and his back markings reflect on that.
Just because the demon has these markings, however, doesn't mean that he is easily marked nowadays with modern tattoos and whatnot.
