As much as a moody almost maddening music would be nice for the bacchanal scene, it would kind of be hilarious to have a beautiful enchanting music to show how thrilled and in a dreamlike state the Greek class was during the bacchanal just to reveal the horrifying body of the farmer at the last note, bringing us back in reality with the characters.
I’m thinking of La Barcarolle from Offenbach because it’s just so enchanting and yet the lyrics just fit the scene : “Belle nuit, ô nuit d’amour Souris à nos ivresses” aka “Beautiful night, o night of love smile upon our excesses” (ivresse meaning both intoxication (being drunk) and an exalted state of joy which both fit the bacchanal scene)
