I found the cutest patchwork panel at @joann_stores today. Unfortunately the squares aren’t sewn particularly straight 😝. I cut it into 2 pieces and used some flannel from my stash to make 2 loveys. I had enough of the back flannel to make a matching crib sheet. I will be putting the set in my ETSY shop tomorrow. Lastly but not leastly, I knitted a newsboy cap :) This item took me the longest to design; I was thinking of a cute bear ears bonnet, but that didn't quite go with the classic clean lines of the other items. Finally I hit upon a newsboy cap, and designed it from the top-down with a short rows brim. I increased out for the crown, then decreased down to create that signature puff, and knitted a garter rib border. I then created a brim over just under half the stitches, and used a half-graft method to secure the live stitches to the underside very tidily. The cap was seamed up the back, and I knitted a button cover in Buckwheat to complement the entire set. Continuing on, the next items were the booties! I used Baby Hausschuhe by Ines M., and modified it to suit my gauge. I knitted the soles in Buckwheat and the uppers in Cobalt Blue. The booties were knitted in garter stitch except for the cuffs, which were knitted in garter rib to match the cardigan! I have a secret- or rather, I HAD a secret. Just after Christmas I set myself the task of knitting a baby layette, and as it's now been posted off to its recipient, I can tell you all about it! :) I started with Improv by Karen Templer, and designed a garter stitch top-down raglan with a combination buttonband/shawl collar in garter rib (with cuffs!), knit flat with seams under each arm and at the centre of the bottom hem. I knit it out of Heirloom Merino Magic Chunky in Cobalt Blue, with Buckwheat accents. I sewed on stainless steel snaps to the inside of the buttonband, and knitted wee little stockinette buttons in Buckwheat for the front.
