The hood of the boy’s jacket shadows his face as he walks along the sidewalk. He’s not watching where he’s going, it’s the same path he takes everyday. Instead his eyes are staring off into the distance, looking at nothing in particular. It was one of those days ago. He hadn’t shaved in a while, not that it mattered much. He still couldn’t grow more than scruff. It was enough to worry his parents though. That coupled with the fact he would likely go home and spend the rest of the day staring out in the window didn’t help his case any.
The only thing that shakes him from whatever is going on in his head, is that slight tingle he gets whenever something abnormal or magic is around. Like an itch just beneath his skin. So he follows the itch until it leads him to the most unsuspecting thing in the world.
And that’s how the boy finds himself veering from his never changing path to stare with narrowed suspcious brown eyes at a cat in an alleyway.
