everywhere and nowhere. the sound rises and rises in volume. laughter shifts into a cackle. you thought you could get away? hell doesn't give up its favorites that easy. a voice that's a dozen all combined into one sickening sound hisses inside his head. fills his eardrums from the inside out. "fuck you," he manages squinting through the sweat dripping in his eye as he steadies himself and walks backwards, backwards. limping once, twice. every other step.
nausea swells in his belly. dean feels like he's about to puke. knocking his head off the god damn iron stove was a dirty as hell move. he'll make sure this jackass pays him back in blood. "c'mon, bitch! scared? where ya hidin'?" taunting when you're on the bad end of a good outcome? might not've been the greatest idea. the demon snarls. weak-kneed legs give out and something in dean's back snaps. the hunter's scream is cut off when there's a sudden shift of his weight, the world goes backwards. slammed against the wall hard enough to knock his wind out--dean winces. bares his teeth and swallows down the pain. the scar on his arm starts to burn.. warm and tingling then brighter and hotter. castiel.
a howl bursts from the dark beyond the pair of eyes he's staring into. endless blue. the color of the sky he could barely look at when he clawed his way out of dirt and mud and took his first real breath of air that didn't reek of sulfur and agony. one of the angel's arms got him pinned to the wall. the other extends out. the hunter stares with round, damn near vacant eyes at the scene about to play out. cas's body doesn't fully block out the view of the demon with its mouth gaping open as light swells from every vein, every limb leaving a burned up and very dead husk on the floor. "cas," there's pain in his voice.. and relief. for the first time since their encounters--dean lets himself fall against the angel's sturdy frame. clearly fighting to stay upright. even then, he refuses to buckle. refuses to fall. "the hell you come from?" jesus christ, doesn't matter. only matters is that this angel? seems to have some damn impeccable timing. or he was brought back from hell with a string of luck born out of grave dirt and shattered glass.
