@Regrann from @gertie18 - The bodice of my pattern #b6413, inspired directly by Marilyn Monroe's hot pink peekaboo wiggle dress in the 1953 film Niagara. I get a lot of bra and keyhole questions on this design! However, this is one I won't be doing a foundation garment post on, as the only bra option I know of is to sew cups between the dress and lining layers. (I'd love to hear other ideas though!) I also don't know how to make it without the keyhole, only because it took me so long to drape and engineer the construction of that detail that it actually hurts to think about undoing that work. (Let me know if you try it though! I always love seeing how others adapt my patterns to their personal style.) But I would love to incorporate these sleeves and neckline into another (slightly more modest) dress someday. @Regrann from @gertie18 - My newly finished version of my pattern #b6413! This pattern was inspired by Marilyn's hot pink picnic dress in Niagara with its keyhole opening and off the shoulder raglan sleeves. The pattern has a pegged pencil skirt, but here I've swapped it for a gathered skirt (with pockets!) to take advantage of this gorgeous embroidered border fabric I found at @textile_fabrics_nashville. I was inspired by all the amazing full skirt versions I've seen posted by you ingenious ladies! The fabric is stretchy and has embroidered dots all over. It was a pleasure to meet this gorgeous lady in Sydney. Gertie was lovely and it is great that she is encouraging a return to home sewing and glamour from the 50's @Regrann from @gertie18 - This afternoon's photoshoot was interrupted by a sudden thunderstorm, and Hattie's certain imminent demise therefrom. Emergency cuddling was necessary, so dress pictures are currently postponed. (Hair flowers were a gift from @bluebellevintageclothing in Sydney, shoes by @luckyloushoes. Dress is #b6413.
