20. the one where you don’t know your soulmate until you hear them say your name.

how many times has he walked passed his soulmate, without ever realizing it? 

aone knows this is a question many people must suffer through. but that doesn’t make it any less painful to think about. especially for someone as quiet and unsociable like him. some days he feels as if it’ll never happen. 

he purses his lips and attempts to clear his mind as he upturns his gaze to the sky. the clouds obstruct the sun, and if he squints hard enough, he’ll notice the incoming rain on the horizon. but he’s not looking for that, no — he follows birds flitting between the trees with his eyes, the occasional rustle of branches from a particularly strong gust of wind.

he isn’t paying attention as he continues his stroll down the sidewalk. so it’s no surprise when he accidentally shoulder checks someone as he passes by. immediately, color rises to his ears ; neck snaps to the side, and for once in his life, he’s met eye to eye with a stranger. it isn’t often that he comes across someone as tall as him, so it briefly startles him into silence.

as soon as the initial surprise wears off, aone bows his head with a low grunt of an apology. “… — sorry. i wasn’t paying attention.”
