hi. i want to talk about pokemon, too. I want to ask what you think AZ would think of a ghost type specialist. because reasons :)
Ooh this one stirs up a lot of complicated thoughts in the big guy
Firstly: He's gonna love on them if they're receptive to it, no questions asked. He has a Golurk, he's very familiar with death, he doesn't mind the macabre ooky spooky aesthetic in the slightest. He probably owns a few skulls, himself (though don't go digging for them).
If you're a goth type, he's absolutely receptive to it (especially as someone who also struggles with smiling lol). He doesn't think he's flattering in all-black though (he is, but he's a stubborn old man who likes the clothes he's made already) so he might not join in unless you bribe him a bit haha
If those thoughts ever come to him while spending time with you, though, he either doesn't share them, or asks careful questions about where you met each of your friends. He doesn't want to rouse too much worry from you, that isn't right. But if you ever catch on, ask if he's thinking about that... oh, he'd weep a little.
Not for anything you've done, mind you, he'll insist, but he's fretful over how nostalgic and sentimental he can get. How difficult it is to grieve when so, so many kind people have passed you by in 3,000 years, how they ought to be able to truly rest... it's a difficult thing to empathize with, nearly impossible, but he'd immensely appreciate it if you stuck with him as he talks this through.
If your partners ever seem to recognize him, though, he's back to crying and maybe hugging them while they stare in confusion as the cobwebs in their little brains get tidied up haha
He'd have so many stories for them, to catch them up :,)

Looking to torture myself with some angst, I wanna request AZ, L/Lysandre, ivor and Cyrus and their reactions when someone badly hurts their gf to the point she's hospitalized?
Anon plz, no. Not the angst qwq anything but the angst.
âââââââ
AZ:
-This man is terrified and terrifying. His reaction is basically bulldozing through the hospital staff to get to you, and even security is going to struggle with a guy that big. Thereâs a minor possibility of him getting the police called on himself.
-If heâs able to be calm enough to come in, itâll take a bit of maneuvering to get to your hospital room just due to his size. He doesnât care. Heâs coming to see you. Usually a member of Team MZ will come too, in case something happens.
-He wonât eat, he wonât drink, he wonât move, he barely breathes, just sits and stays with you for the first week. Heâll talk if you talk to him. He watches over you when you sleep. Every time a phlebotomist comes in theyâre on the receiving end of one of his glares. Itâs not their fault, itâs literally their job to stab you and make you bleed like this, but he despises it.
-Depending on the length of your stay, he will slowly start to calm down. Heâll have actual, cordial conversations with the doctors and other medical staff. Heâs kind to the food and cleaning staff whenever they come by. He stops glaring when they have to do tests or replace an IV.
-Takes any departure instructions very seriously and makes certain you recover as instructed at home. Physical therapy is followed to a T on a strict schedule. The physician said to do it, youâre doing it.
-If he ever finds out who did this to you..well, heâs not sure. He imagines what heâd like to do, but most likely heâd call the police.
L:
-Oh this man is FRANTIC, but thereâs a huge glaring problem. Hospitals are a reporting location and he is a wanted terrorist.
-He sends Team MZ to check for you, or possibly Griselle or Grisham. Heâs desperate to hear anything about your condition and is practically stalking the hospital campus like some kind of stray cat at night. He knows itâs not safe to stay in the same area every night, he could get caught, but he needs to know that youâre okay.
-If someone goes back and tells him someone attacked you?? Oh something ugly slowly drags itself to the surface of his soul. Heâs barely himself as he feels a kind of dangerous, molten anger flood his system. Heâs almost possessed, and lord help the poor soul that attacked you if he finds them.
-The moment youâre out and able to visit him again heâs over the moon and almost weirdly clingy. If he doesnât live with you get, heâs going to haunt the apartment complex for months, scaring the living daylights out of anyone even remotely out of place at night. The cops get called a lot.
If he does live with you, heâs not leaving you alone for sh*t and youâre just gonna have to get used to it. Heâs too terrified of you getting hurt now.
Ivor:
-Very scared for you and is like a bull in a china shop. Heâs going to grab whoever informed him of what happened and start shouting VERY LOUDLY about what happened and do they know whoâs responsible.
-Security will be called and they arenât stopping him. He can punch a reinforced steel floodgate open, that man will knock their light out and he will get into restricted areas to find you. Everyone is about to see a very scary side to a man who can dent steel.
-Once he confirms youâre still alive and on the mend, he is putting Gwynn with you, getting the Fists of Justice, and he is prowling the streets to find out who the hell is responsible for this. Heâs grabbing random people and interrogating them to figure out what happened to you.
-Pray that he never finds out who it was and gets into the same zip code, because Arceus forbid he gets his hands on them, there will be little more than a pulp of pink meat left and he will get arrested for murder if he is alone. Make sure that someone, either Emma or maybe Corbeau and Phillipe, goes with him. Anyone to ensure he doesnât do something he canât take back.
Cyrus:
-This man tries..SO hard not to care about it.
-He does come to visit, late at night, by himself. He sits with you for a little while, talks to you. Holds your hand like you mean something to him and watches you with a nearly emotional glint in his eyes. He leaves when you become tired.
-He curses, quietly, and storms out of the facility with a look close to anger, but not quite. Heâs resolute. Determined. He gets back to Galactic HQ and starts doubling down on his efforts to rid the world of emotions like this forever. He also, unconsciously, looks into whether or not the urge to maim and pain could be removed from the psyche as well. Starts researching methods to change the nervous system so it no longer registers pain, even if that means putting the person in a bubble and scanning their body every month for breaks.
-He doesnât come back.

Worried husband, danger cat, angry bull, festering headache. Only thing in common is none of them respond well to stress.
If you have a prompt youâd like me to try, feel free to send me an ask.
Kissing AZ must be..just the most constantly tedious, annoying labor of love ever. Mostly for him but thereâs a lot of maneuvering and most of the time you guys are gonna end up in weird positions, most of which end up with him halfway on the damn floor.
Like heâs mostly limb, thatâs MOST of his length, so to get him to you like..dude has to crouch (and I mean the deep squat that will hurt his back and make you have to awkwardly ignore his crotch), or you have to get up onto several items like some kind of cartoon..or he just straight up has to pick you up, and that feels kinda weird plus it will throw his back out.
Like because of his size there is some weird framework around kissing and being affectionate. I always consider whether or not thatâs part of why he isnât very physically affectionate, but I donât know..
He could avoid all of this by sitting, but even sitting is awkward for him and he doesnât always have a seat available.

Summary:
You were dropped into ancient Hisui some time ago. You end up finding AZ, a strange man who was attacked by a wild ursaluna. You offer to have him stay with you while he recovers from his injuries. As time passes, you find yourself falling for him little by little. The two of you are able to talk about things that many others do not understand. This does make Adaman jealous, however.
I plan to write this story slowly over time. I have plans for this story to eventually end up back in modern times. There will be a mix of reader/AZ and reader/Adaman eventually.

PLZA MC sure has a lot of expectations placed on them! I'm sure that won't give them a complex! (Also, real talk, I want AZ to be my grandpa. Look how cool that guy is. I don't care he committed war crimes.)
Word Count: 1655
The ZA-Royale was intense, to say the least. While other places may have had the kindness of at least waiting until trainers locked eyes, here there was no such mercy. Trainers would jump each other, trying to get the upper hand and climb the ranks. It was nearly impossible to walk down the street without joining a battle or catching strays from someone elseâs. People didnât mean to hurt each other, battling was for the Pokemon to do, after all, but some injuries were expected. Most nights, you returned to the hotel late, exhausted, and covered in scratches. Then you would wake up the next day, run âerrandsâ for the Rust Syndicate, and return to the Royale that evening.
AZ was encouraging, especially in the beginning. At first, it had only been a thought in the back of his mind, a small maybe. Maybe you were strong enough. Maybe you could succeed where he had failed. Maybe you could fix what he had broken three thousand years ago.
As time passed, it had become clear to himâto all of team MZ, reallyâthat you were strong. Probably the strongest trainer he had ever encountered. Your skill with your Pokemon was unmatched. You would be the one to wield Mega Floette. However, it had also become apparent that you had absolutely zero self-preservation skills and your self-care was⊠similarly lacking. Many nights, AZ would stay up, long past when he would have normally gone to bed, and wonder if maybe all this was wrong. If he was pushing too hard. Expecting too much.
It was on one of these nights, when he was sitting in a chair too small and contemplating on tasks too large, that a crash sounded from somewhere in the lobby. Odd. He expected you to have already returned for the night. You usually slipped upstairs quietly, not long before sunrise.
Floette was faster than him, floating rather gracefully out the door and into the hotel lobby. AZ took his time, old joints creaking as he stood. He didnât mind the cane, so much, but he could do without the pain that came with being three meters tall. By the time he was through the door to the lobby, Floette was back at his side, flitting around and trilling agitatedly. What had gotten her so riled up?
He felt the gentlest tug on his pants leg. He glanced down. It was your Absol, yanking on the fabric between its teeth. The Pokemon looked a bit worse for wear, but nowhere near as poorly as it had when you saved it from rogue mega evolving. It seemed agitated, too. What was going on?
Absol tugged just a bit harder, and AZ took a step forward. Satisfied that he was moving, it released the fabric and trotted towards the door. Did it want him to follow it? Floette floated forward, waiting near the door. Well, if two Pokemon wanted him to follow them, who was he to say no? It wasnât like anyone would check into the hotel while he was out.
The sun was just beginning to rise when he stepped out onto the street. The Absolâs claws clicked against the stones as it led him down alley after alley. It stopped at every street corner, looking back and waiting for him to catch up.
When he rounds the last corner, he pauses.
âHeeey, old man,â you greeted him as he came into view. Your Absol rushed to your side, sniffing at your face in a way that reminded AZ of a mother. You were curled against the wall of the alley, pressing your hand to your side. Thereâs red seeping through your shirt. With your free hand, you stroke Absolâs fur. âSorry, he ran off the second I sat down. Didnât think heâd run all the way back to Hotel Z.â
Absol huffs, as if to say âObviously I went and got help.â
âYouâre injured,â AZâs eyes are locked on you, on the patch of red pressed under your hand. His voice is gentle, grandfatherly, but thereâs an edge to it. âCan you walk?â
âYeah, yeah yeah,â you wince as you stand, pain clawing across the entire right side of your chest. The shock of the injury had definitely worn off by now. You lean against the wall as you get up, trying to support your weight without putting too much strain on the massive slash on your side. Absol wedges himself against your legs, preventing you from falling over.
âHow did this happen?â AZ asks, offering you a hand. You take it, keeping one hand pressed against your side.
âOh, it was someone in the royale,â you wince as you take a step, leaning on AZ for support. âI, uh, wasnât looking where I was going and walked right into an attack.â
âPerhaps you should take a break from the royale for a short while, then,â he suggests, shifting his grip on his cane. Supporting his own weight was hard enough, but with you leaning on him, he was worried heâd topple over.
âI thought you needed me to become the strongest mega user,â you mutter. AZ inhales sharply at your comment, but you barely notice. Most of your focus was going towards putting one foot in front of the other. How many blocks away from the hotel were you? Three? Five?
âIâm sure Floette will manage if you take a few moments to rest,â he says after a few blocks of crushing silence. Floette trills, doing a small flip in the air next to him. You wished you could tell what she was saying, but she at least didnât seem to be disagreeing with AZ.
âWhat about all the Pokemon, then? What will happen to them?â you glance down at your Absol, thinking back at how much pain it had been in when it rogue mega evolved. The power coursing through the city had to be stopped somehow. Otherwise, Pokemon would keep getting hurt. People would keep fearing Pokemon.Â
âYouâll be able to better assist them if you first care for yourself,â AZ releases your hand, opening the door to the hotel and guiding you inside. You hadnât realized how far you had walked. You canât even remember most of the walk. That was bad, right? A sign of concussion or brain damage or something? Maybe it was just how tired you were.
âWhat about Taunie and Urbain, though? Whoâs going to keep the Rust Syndicate off them?â you collapse into one of the chairs in the lobby, Absol curling up on the floor below you, as AZ rummages for something under the counter. It was almost comical, seeing him try to bend over so far with limbs longer than you were tall. Your eyes threaten to close, but you resist. Canât go falling asleep in the lobby, after all. It briefly occurs to you that youâre probably getting blood on the chair, but you canât seem to find it in you to get up. Youâll clean the chair later, you decide.
âIâm sure they will manage just fine without you for a few days,â AZ stands back up, walking back over to where youâre sitting. In his hands is a small first aid box.
âA few days!?â you cry, wincing at the way your whole side throbs when you yell. AZ sits on the chair next to you, setting his cane to the side as he opens the first aid kit and begins picking through it carefully.
âYes, a few days rest would do wonders for your health,â he nods, âIt would give you a chance to catch up on sleep, in any case.â
âI donât need to catch up on sleep,â you cross your arms. âIâve been sleeping just fine, thank you very much.â
âYou donât come back until almost dawn most days,â AZ frowns. Heâs not mad. No, itâs worse: heâs disappointed. Since when was he so concerned with how much sleep you got!? He ignores your look of confusion, instead producing a roll of bandages from the kit. âIâll need you to lift your shirt so I can tend to your wound.â
You huff, peeling the wet fabric away from your side. Looking at it now, itâs maybe, quite possibly, a very, very bad injury. The cut was clean, just below your bottom ribs, but it was deep, and blood had smeared down to the belt of your pants. Great, youâd never get the stain out.
AZâs arms are long enough that he can remain sitting as he cleans the cut with something that stings.
âArceus damn it!â you hiss as the feeling of cold, tingling needles spreads from the disinfectant.
âLanguage,â AZ scolds.
âSince when were you such a mother hen?â You roll your eyes, lifting your arm slightly so he can better apply the bandages. You canât remember the last time someone seemed so concerned about your well-being. It was weird.
Floette squeaks angrily.
âIt seems Floette shares the sentiment. There,â AZ smiles and finishes tying the bandages. You lower your arm, your shirt falling back into place. âNow, you go change into some clean clothes and get some rest. Iâll have Taunie and Urbain run up in a few hours with breakfast.â
âI really shouldnât,â you say nervously. Some of your resistance is still from your desire to do anything but rest, but most of it is genuine fear at what âfoodâ the two would make. AZ laughs softly at the look of terror on your face.
âDonât worry, Iâll keep them away from the kitchen,â he smiles. Then, more sternly: ânow, upstairs.â
âOkay, grandpa,â you roll your eyes again and stand up slowly. You mean it as a joke, a dig at how old he is and how weird heâs being, but it doesnât quite land. You wouldnât mind AZ actually being your grandpa. From the way he smiles, he might not mind either.
Here's a thought i had, what if for Halloween (or whatever the pokemon equivalent was) AZ's SO dressed like him for Halloween. If questioned about it they say they like to dress as something SUPER important to them for the holiday.
AZ is going to be touched by this, but also is going to be desperately trying not to laugh at you.
Unless youâre particularly gifted with makeup, you look ridiculous and heâs going to notice that. He doesnât want to discourage your adorable attempt to connect, but f*ck itâs so funny. Oh he wants to be an ass about it so bad.
Floette does not however have that amount of self control, she is laughing to the point of tears behind him and making it that much harder for him to hold it together.
If youâre his friend, heâs going to lie and say it looks good while trying not to laugh.
If youâre his partner, youâre getting a giggly kiss on the forehead and told point blank that you look silly. He will follow that up with how much he loves you though, just in case.
If it makes you feel any better anon, he does find it flattering, and appreciates that you love him that much. Plus, not much makes him laugh anymore, so take it as a compliment that you managed to make him laugh so hard he wheezes once you leave.
Sorry if this is a lot of detail; this old fart brings something out in me~
Actually, yknow what..youâre onto something.
âââââ-
-AZ actually enjoys ghost types, particularly those linked to ancient civilizations or past cultures. Pokemon like Cofagrigus/Runerigus and Yamask, Golett and Golurk, and Spiritomb all fascinate him.
-Phantump just make him feel sad, and it would actually be him that babies the damn thing. Treating it like his own child and trying to make sure it never goes without due to the type of situation that usually creates that pokemon.
-He would likely treat your specialty with respect and dignity, believing it a noble thing to willingly interact with Pokemon often considered taboo or dangerous. He is more than aware that many of them are simply lonely and hurting, and you offer them respite and a friend during their new life. He sees an altruistic kindness in that.
-Floette also enjoys your team since she can talk to them. They will all often sit around blabbering about something you donât quite understand. Wonder what theyâre talking aboutâŠ
âââ-
Very short but I like the idea that AZ has a healthy and heavy respect for ghost types. I myself love ghost types, personally.
