just a lil’ recap of some of the things we’ve been through so far in the last ‘five years’: january the wildfires in Australia estimated killing around 480 million animals. threat of a ‘WW3’ because of Cheeto. februari worst outbreak of desert locusts in East-Africa and South-Asia for a quarter of a century, threatening the food supply of tens of billions. march COVID19 crashing the health and the economy worldwide. yet some people still managed to become billionaires.. East-African floods affecting 700,000 people in 9 countries. june the (in)famous black square posted by non-poc companies and people who have apparently just had their eyes opened on how the world outside their bubble actually is. but check how much those people/brands have actually done the last couple of months to help improve the situation. worldwide protests occur for human decency towards black and other people of color #BlackLivesMatter. july countries such as my beautiful Suriname or Curaçao and other Caribbean islands that rely on tourism for the health of their economy, have been hit even harder than us privileged working from home during this pandemic here in Europe. so please when the moment arrives to freely travel again and you do decide to go to paradise, please don’t book an all-inclusive vacay at a hotel owned by the colonizer. spend money with the locals. they need it the most. august massive explosion in Beirut, Lebanon. the death of the Black Panter. october that lil’ black square you posted a while back doesn’t seem to do anything for the injustices happening in different African countries. #YourPerformativeAllyshipIsShowing #BlackLivesStillMatter *these are the things that made the most impact on me personally. never forget that a lot more has happened that we don’t even directly know of but can still influence our way of life. #ThePandemicIsntOverJustBecauseYoureOverIt - #AYearOfChange - #BeTheChangeYouWantToSeeInTheWorld https://www.instagram.com/p/CGp5aH4Jq4T/?igshid=272aj1guylus
