Music Monday: Aydio - Way of the Five Pecks of Rice
Aydio is another downtempo/chill-out artist I really enjoy, and this track, with its title that refers to a Three Kingdoms era Daoist theocratic movement also known as the Celestial Masters that had a short-lived era of temporal success as a kingdom, yet the group lingered on throughout the millennia to the point that there are still people following their successors.
Two things I love about this track:
1. Despite the title there’s nothing Chinese about the instruments or the melody or anything. And yet it somehow really does suit the title. I like that. I respect that.
2. I feel like it gives this sense of a doomed cause, a calm and yet an imminent destruction, loss and yet perseverance, focus and yet dreaminess.
Nice background music for writing. *thumbs up*
