I remember when I used to promote food programmes. I usually say we are going to bring you the most delicious food in Malaysia but I usually feel a bit conflicted saying that. For example, this peanut soup I had here today how could I be sure that was the best in Malaysia? The same food could be everywhere in Malaysia. Who is the best is probably just a matter of personal preference. So what I care more about now is whether the dish in that stall is the one more dear to the locals. It may not be the best peanut soup in the world but it may be the first mouthful of peanut soup these villagers have ever tasted or the peanut soup they've had the most or most frequently. That means no matter how good other peanut soups may be, none of them may ever match up to this local peanut soup.
