It'd been a day, to say the least, and Lev was left prioritizing. The first clue to the entirety of his undoing is the way in which he does so, putting pleasure entirely before business. He'd been given an assignment - one he very much plans to enact - but there is something more personally pressing. There is time, and his mark would surely still be available when this is done.
He did the same song and dance as always. Multiple short walks, multiple Ubers and taxis, a walk around the block, and a careful look around before disappearing into the building in Old Town Triangle. Each step up the stairs to the temporarily rented apartment is difficult, his feet surely turning to lead as his anxiety rises. He can't help but second guess himself, thinking heavily on Eli's warnings and turning the exchange over in his mind repeatedly. "Fuck," he mutters upon finding himself before the door.
Taking in a deep breath, he tilts his head slowly from right to left, attempting to release his tension in a series of cracks that do nothing for him. One slow exhale has him unlocking the door and letting himself inside. He doesn't need to look around to know that his counterpart is already here.
Silently, he thanks whatever power may be that he has a job to do tonight if only because it will allow him to expel this energy. It is only once the door is locked behind him that he puts on a halfhearted grin, turning his sights to Axel as he makes a slow approach. "One small step for man."
