Principles of composition -
Movement/directional force
Balance - Using (a)symmetry to create a (un)stable feeling.
Movement - portrayal of movement within a static composition / placements of elements to guide the eye through the composition.
Rhythm - recurrence of regular elements throughout the piece with variations, that leads and paces the eye.
Focus/emphasis - key element of the composition. Secondary elements guide the eye back to the focus.
Contrast - Distinct differences between elements either visually of in subject matter.
Harmony/unity - the use of similar elements to create a sense of wholeness within a composition
