The winds of a winter storm howled mercilessly outside. But for the first time months he wasn't out in it. Lyell was inside the hotel, warm and comfortable in his bedroom.
He wasn't alone though. Lyell looked at Ezekiel from where he sat and then drifted his attention to the single bed in the room. "Ezekiel. " Lyells voice was low and soft. "It's dangerous out, I'm not going to let you walk out in that storm."
Standing he approached the reverend, giving him a stern and serious look. "You'll just have to sleep next to me tonight." He started to smile, "Doesn't that sound better?"
A sigh left him as he lingered at the window. He’d hoped that the storm would blow over by nightfall but it only seemed to have gotten worse, and showed no signs of letting up anytime soon.
As Lyell spoke, he turned slowly towards him, head cocked with a questioning look.
That sounded...quite nice, actually. It was a suggestion that would usually make him feel awkward, like he was imposing; a mere nuisance. But coming from Lyell, it sounded nothing short of inviting and cosy. Yet his own anxious nature still prompted him to question it.
“You sure? I mean - you wouldn’t mind?”
