In truth, she did consider calling first to warn him she was in the city. Until now there hadn’t been a reason for her to do so, she’d been here chasing a lead for around a month now but saw no reason to bother him until she knew for sure the lead was heading somewhere. Besides, she didn’t have his number anymore. After he left, she replaced her mobiles, deleted herself from the internet and completely shut out the world. Aubrey became a ghost. Quite fitting, considering that’s how she felt ever since she lost their baby; just a pale copy of the woman she used to be. The only way she could cope with the loss was to bury herself in trying to track down the vampire who caused it; it was the ultimate downfall for their relationship. It had been just over a year since she last saw Linc, but now she was close to finding the vampire, in the city he settled in no less, it felt like fate that she inform him. He deserved to have a hand in the death of the thing that ruined their lives and she was very much under the impression that’s what he would want. So, there she was, walking into his fathers' shop, or more accurately now, his shop just before closing. The bell signalled she’d entered and she waited for him to appear, a small quiver of nerves in the ends of her fingertips. “Hi, Linc.” Her voice came out as a whisper and she just to say managed a gentle smile. “How’s it going?” She breathed in. How’s it going? /mental slap/ What a dumb thing to say. “You look good.” Fact. He looked much healthier than he did the day he left. @forgedsecrxts
