I don’t think anything has evoked a full body cringe in me like seeing the “alpha male” buff in kcd. somebody needs to be killed for that.

i feel like when i first read the rs article i had already been online and seen the backlash which meant i didnt read it with a clear head of that makes sense??? like when they said about demographics i was so angry when i first read it and going back i now interpret it as they weren’t saying they didn’t want a female fan base but didn’t want to be perceived as just for girls and would like everyone to enjoy their music. especially now i feel as though they have definitely shown growth and they have stood up for teenage female fanbases in interviews recently
hmmm yeah I agree there was huge backlash when it came out and it was probably hard to read it objectively due to that. my memory of the whole thing is cloudy given it was...five years ago. but rereading it now I still get bad vibes off it. when you take the comments within the context of the article, which generally paints them as less than admirable, I get why people interpreted it as they did, and took their comments badly. to me, it reads a lot like they were fed up being seen like 1d and wanted to be a ~serious band~ aka didn’t want to be associated with a primarily teen female audience. over the years since I think they’ve woken up and realised that that thought process is wack. but !!! ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ they have definitely shown growth and I’m v happy that they don’t seem to share those values anymore
if i was to say iiiiidk gonna do a quick writing thing about hb having all sorts of pretty pictures taken of him.. who would be taking the pictures?? im asking for a friend....
