You do know there was a sequel for the DS, right? The Fallen King?
I did know this, actually! I posted some screenshots from it back when this blog first opened, but I had completely forgotten about it, thank you for mentioning it! I've only played a few minutes of the game myself, so I don't know how much of the storyline it resolves or what exactly it covers, or if it's like one of the Asassin's Creed DS games where it is isn't very integral to the story and almost acts like a filler episode of a series.
If anyone knows more about it and wants to share, please feel free :) I don't know when I'll have the time to sit down with it again myself and get further into it, so if there's any resolve to the story, I'd love to hear it!
