Pet: Promised

it’s hard to picture himself in words.   easier if he thinks in terms of others.   his friends in pop up books or their names replacing ones he’s read about in myth  :  wolves and stars and teeth. they couldn’t be poetry.  there are some memories that can’t be transformed  ,  can’t be made into beauty. eyes remain on sky  ,  thoughtful  ,  his head tilted into a nod.    ❛    yeah  ,  maybe.   i guess i’m still trying to make it a better story.    ❜    not because he needs one  ,  not really  ,  but it’s what the rest of them deserve.  his friends  ,  his pack.  every innocent person stuck in something bigger than what they knew.        ❛    that’s kind of what we’re all doing  ,  right  ?    ❜
