It had been a stupid idea, he suspected. In any case, it was a whim, and he was now sort of regretting it. After all, Verity would probably think it was completely idiotic and refuse to have anything more to do with him. 

She always said that there was very little that he could do to scare her off, but he had a hunch that this might be it.

 I dunno. I’m a shit liar, actually, so they’re usually fairly harmless.

In all honesty, I have no idea; as far as I’m aware, there isn’t anyone. It’d be a bit strange, at my age, for someone to have a crush on me and I might consider it a bit inappropriate.

That’s tricky, most people I’m not inclined to forget I’ve met several times.

I don’t know that it counts as meeting, but I did once overhear a woman on the train shout into her mobile, “Of COURSE he has a vagina, we ALL do!” and I’ll never forget that because I didn’t interrupt her to ask for the context.

As awful as it sounds, I’ve already met all of the still living people that were specifically on a mental list of ‘want to meet’.

A thought about them that they’d never share: He does worry about her sometimes, but it isn’t any of his business who she chooses to leave a bar with. Oliver was just about ready for bed when he heard a knock on the door. He glanced to the door, then looked towards his clock. It wasn’t often he got visitors this late, at least not unexpected ones, he imagined there was only a few people it could be. A glass of whisky in hand, he moved to open the door, smiling at the lithe blonde standing on his doorstep.
