He defies the expectation in Suzuran that physical strength is the only thing that makes a man... A man (or, in other words, it defies Suzuran's value that physical strength is the only thing that truly matters). Basically, Hana was a lesson to Suzuran. *OF COURSE, Suzuran does know HONOR. But there's more to it when it comes to an individual
And that's why Hana IS still exceptionally strong physically, but not in an OP way like Guriko. While Guriko has immense strength, Hana has a balance between the two: physical AND emotional strength. This is also why it took Guriko, the strongest man in Suzuran's eyes (in their value of strictly physical strength), to tell them all that HANA was the one who was truly the strongest.
Hana also losing those two major battles (Guriko and Bisuko), yet still having the strength to keep rising and going on with life is his demonstration of what it's truly like to be a man worthy of respect.
While it does feel anticlimatic, it's inspiring in its own way. Has got to be one of my favorite ways WORST is set apart from other manga.

If he had a helmet, the worst that could've happened is hospitalization for a while and probably some rehabilitation afterwards...
