This rant probs gonna get me some hate but I really don’t care
So I’m seeing a lot of shitposting about “My *insert character name here* did not deserve that ending”.
I understand, as we as fans all do, that the fan experience goes so much beyond the movies. That we spend hours upon hours on here as well as multitudes of other forums sharing our theories, thoughts and creative ideas for our beloved characters.
But I urge everyone to remember that these movies aren’t purely designed as a big-fat fan service. Yes they are made for us. Yes we are so much of the reason that they are successful and have risen to the platform they sit on today.
But my god they do not exist entirely to pay off every single fan and for each of our small, anecdotal ideas about the characters to be realised.
If, for instance, each character had lived, there had been no skin in the game, there would be a hell of a lot more vitriol and backlash than there is now, from fans and critics alike.
Believable story-telling is not pie in the sky, we all got our fantastic, satisfying ending, because life is not like that. Yes it’s a story with fantastical elements, but it is also human and grounded partially in reality, which is what makes us relate to them so much in the first place. And unfortunately in reality, we do not always get “the ending we deserve”.
So I can completely understand being disappointed that maybe your fave didn’t get the ending you had hoped for, but Jesus fuck that’s not a reason to “cancel MCU” and get so angry at people who have put the last 10 years of their lives, heart and soul, into creating a world we love.
Ok whew rant over, if you wanna come for me or chat Endgame you know where to find me ✌🏼
