TIER IV Secures Additional $54 Million In Series B Funding: Deploying Level 4 Autonomous Driving Systems Across Japan
TIER IV, a leader in open-source software for autonomous driving, has successfully extended its Series B funding round, raising an additional $54 million (¥8.5 billion), bringing the total to $132 million (¥20.7 billion) and overall funding to $243 million (¥38.1 billion). This funding will advance the development of Level 4 autonomous driving systems and safety assessment methods. TIER IV has been selected for several significant initiatives, including NEDO's Green Innovation Fund Project and the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism's SBIR Phase 3 funding, aligning with Japan's goal to deploy Level 4 systems in multiple locations by 2025.
From Series A to Series B, TIER IV has significantly advanced its software platforms, emphasizing vehicle models and safety assessments for Level 4 systems. Collaborating with global partners, TIER IV is ready for full-scale commercialization in Japan and worldwide. The focus includes mobility services such as buses and taxis, and logistics services like factory transportation and highway trucks.
