Imagine him lying down in bed, letting you lay on top of him, his hands scratching behind your ears as your tail wags happily. He’d chuckle, cooing at you

“Such a good girl… you like that? Yeah?”

You’d let out a little bark, causing him to laugh again– softer this time.

“Yeah…”

It would be such a soft moment; the light of the setting sun shining through his curtains, his duvet slightly ruffled beneath him, the window cracked just enough to let in a soft breeze that ruffles your fur…

Or maybe it’s still in the early stages of your training, so early that you haven’t even mastered “sit” yet. You’re excitedly pacing the kitchen floor, eyes locked on the treat he’s holding above your head. He drags the word out, trying to get it to stick in your brain.

“Siiit. Sit.”

But you don’t, instead you nip at the air desperately, only missing the treat because of how good Caleb’s reflexes are. He can’t help but sigh fondly, shooting you an exasperated look, but all you do is pant up at him happily.

“This is gonna take a while…”

Maybe if you’re feeling especially mischievous you take/hide things from him.

Snatching the part to an airplane model he’s building and running off with it, he frantically tries to hurry after you

“Wha- hey! Wait!”

Too bad for him you manage to make it to his room with enough time to hide the piece before he stumbles in after you. You sit there innocently, staring up at him as he places his hands on his hips with a less than amused look on his face.

“Alright, fine. You got me. Where is it?”

But obviously you don’t understand, not really, so you bark. He quirks a brow, hardening his tone when he says your name so that you know he’s not happy. It works– if only slightly– because you bow your head shamefully, moving to lie on your stomach with your chin resting on your paws. It’s cute, and it shows remorse, but you aren’t exactly being helpful.

You get especially excited when he comes home from work or errands, already waiting at the door for him to walk through. And when he finally does you can’t help but pace back and forth, yipping and barking as he shuts the door behind him, giving you a warm greeting

“Hey pretty girl, did you miss me?”

He gets his answer in the form of you jumping up onto him as best as you can, your paws supporting your weight against his abdomen as you stand on your hind legs. It makes him laugh, gently shooing you off of him so he can get more than two feet into the house

“I’ll take that as a yes.”
