NOVEMBER TRIBUTE. Last night our family sat at Jackson HS and watched my nephew Dominick sing in his schools fall recital. For many of you this is typical and fairly run of the mill - often dreaded by some. For us - this was a major step for a child with autism who only transitioned to typical school last year. As I sat and listened to the songs I was moved by the memories from my own childhood. As little kids we loved the #mickeymouseclub and watched it every week. I wanted to be on that tram singing along with them!! Hearing it sung last night made me think of how much my dad wanted to take us all to Disney as kids! He had the most fun I think! Later, my parents and I took @victoria_margarett when she was just 4. And then our family went again for my honeymoon trip when Dominick was not even 1! After my dad died it was my moms idea to all go back the next year to celebrate my dad in a unique way. Mickey is way more than a mouse to us because we have such deep rooted memories! The final song they sang last night was #thecircleoflife and it hit me - Dominick, Victoria, Gia and @maggie_dominick are our focus because that’s what happens in life. You look to the next generation to build memories and strengthen family bonds. My dad would have been so proud of his only grandson last night, as we all were! I know he’s looking down and beaming at the greatness that he left behind in all of us but lost especially his grandkids!!! #missmydaddy #hisonlygrandson #austismspeaks #blessed #4thgraderecital #alssucks (at Jackson Local Schools)
