It’s easy to see the new US AI regulations as “someone else’s problem,” but they’re already reshaping tools Australian hospitals, schools and banks rely on. When American law quietly becomes global default, we lose a little sovereignty each time we click “accept update.” Maybe 2025 is the year we stop being relaxed about that and start asking what an Australian approach to ethical AI could look like—one that puts community impact ahead of compliance checkboxes. Just a thought from a very average punter down south.
