MAL sighed heavily at her fiancé's words. they’d agreed a long time ago to be as open and transparent with each other as possible, and ben could always tell when something was wrong with her. she tried not to burden the king with trivial issues and insecurities when he already had so much on his plate, but the king never let her get away with keeping things to herself. “ you can always tell, huh ? ” the future queen smiled softly, then reached for his hand. she let herself take in the sight of her fiancé, and the half-fae was reminded yet again just how much she loved him. they’d had their issues in the past, but they’d worked through them together and they were stronger for it now. “ i just have a weird feeling, ” the violet-haired femme admitted after a few moments of silence. “ like something bad is going to happen, like it always seems to during these big auradon events. ” she wasn’t sure where exactly that uneasy feeling was coming from, but it wasn’t a pleasant feeling or something that she wanted to deal with. “ does that sound crazy ? ”

COMING to auradon was meant to be a temporary thing; a way to get close to fairy godmother’s wand long enough to bring down the barrier and release the villains who’d been stranded on the isle for the last twenty years. what happened instead, however, was that mal had fallen in love with the new king, a month before his coronation. she’d noticed his gaze linger a little extra longer on her when they’d first met, but she’d thought nothing of it at the time. then, things between them had blossomed into something beautiful, and the half-fae found herself feeling real love for the first time in her life. it had taken her until the day she’d almost lost him to a love spell to really say the words, but they’d rang true even before then. now, they were less than a week away from their wedding, and ben could still make her heart melt with a few simple words. “ it’s always been you for me too. it just took me a little longer to realize it than you, ” the femme responded, fingers caressing his cheeks affectionately. “ i honestly can’t imagine my life without you, benjamin florian, and i can’t wait to marry you. ”

LOVE had never been mal’s top priority on the island, mainly because she’d never been taught was it really meant ; at least, not in auradon’s eyes. she’d crossed the bridge with evil intentions in mind but her heart had changed for the better in just a few short months. ben was a large part of that, an every moment spent with him was a moment that the half-fae truly treasured. he was her perfect match and one true love, and in just a little under a week, the young couple would be married, and mal would be crowned auradon’s new queen. she was used to hearing words like the ones he’d just uttered, but somehow, with the wedding coming up, they just meant so much more. “ you think so, huh ? ” the femme teased, arms wrapping around her fiancé’s neck as emerald hues locked on honey-brown ones. a grin of pure love and affection followed and plastered across the future queen’s face. “ well, if you’re the luckiest man then i’m certainly the luckiest woman alive,” she countered warmly, stretching up to press a soft, affectionate kiss to his lips.
