once upon a time, long, long ago ( well, more like twenty years ago ) : belle married her beast in front of SIX THOUSAND of their closest, personal friends. ( BIG CAKE. ) yeah, so instead of a honeymoon, these two united ALL of the kingdoms & got himself elected king of the UNITED STATES OF AURADON. he rounded up all the villains, & the sidekicks ( basically all the really interesting people ) & he booted them off to the ISLE OF THE LOST, with a magical barrier to keep them there. --------------------------------- it only took a few terrible years later to declare all of the villains UNFIT PARENTS. of course, anyone would think that GREAT, give the kids a fresh start & second chance, raised with love & full bellies --- except, in secret the AURADON NATIONAL GUARD storms the island every so often, forcibly ripping these “ villian kids ” away from their birth parents. sure, some of them were HAPPY to see their children to go ( one less mouth to feed ), & sure, there were the ones who fought to keep their children there ( whether they loved them or only thought of them as their property ). they’re thrown into adoption agencies, renamed, & stripped of anything that would mark them as VILLAINS. & the world kept turning. the kids grew older. only the original royals knew who the kids’ evil parents were ( or so they thought ) --- & it was UNLAWFUL to tell them any different --- not even the soon-to-be-king-ben was made aware.
& everything was amazing. until it wasn’t. anonymous messages are left for the supposed vks telling them to go back to where they came from --- to a few at first ( it’s probably just a joke ), to a few more ( what if they’re right ?? ), ‘til it makes national news ( why is beast declining to comment ? ) & once that information has inevitably come to light, well --- will the kids stay with the only family they’ve ever known ?? or are they inherently EVIL ??
