The moment Brad held your baby girl for the very first time, you knew you would never again be the most important person in his life. That very moment, his entire world had shifted — for her.

It was beautiful. 

Moreso, his relationship with her. 

She was his everything. 

They spent mornings with their matching plaid pajama bottoms watching Sesame Street, discussing (specifically incoherent babbling) the many problems the muppets experienced on a daily basis. They spent afternoons sipping tea with her monkey and bear. They spent nights cuddled in one another’s arms, her face tucked under his chin and her chubby fingers in his hair.

And while she also had the other boys wrapped around her little finger, you knew who her favorite person in the entire world would always be — her daddy.

And truthfully, when a tiara was perched on his curls and his nails were done up all pretty, you wouldn’t want it any other way. 

Brad normally wasn’t the jealous type. In the beginning, before the two of you became exclusive, he hadn’t minded if you dated others. He was understanding and generous. 

However, the moment a few beers (and a handful of shots, usually) were in his system, something changed. The boys could slap him silly and he would still be groveling about the way that bloke was looking at you.

The weight of his silence was heavy, enough to chase the rest of the group as far away as possible. “Brad, is this how we’re going to spend your day off? You pouting in the corner?”

He grunted and mumbled a, “’m not pouting”.

“Well, while you sit here not pouting, I’m going to go dance with the others.” You had hardly moved before a warm hand touched the flesh of your upper arm. 

“No.” His harsh words were quick to draw your attention to his eyes, heart skipping and mouth drying. He drew you close, herding you until you could taste the vodka on his tongue. “You aren’t going anywhere.” You swallowed, eyes briefly falling to his lips as you teased the loose buttons of his shirt. His dark gaze flickered to somewhere behind you. “The bloke is still watching you.”

It was difficult to resist the temptation to whine. Here you were, sitting on Brad and he only had eyes for some guy. “Baby,” you swiped your bottom lip with your tongue, pleased when his attention returned. “Don’t you get it?” Your fingers danced to the hem of his shirt, caressing the warm skin and muscle there. “I’m all yours.”

There was something about him that you couldn’t resist. The moment his eyes were set on you, you were a lost cause.

And he knew it. 

“Fuck, you’re already wet.” His fingers caressed along your folds, just barely grazing the surface of your need for him. You couldn’t help the whimper that spilled from you, aching for him to do something. “You’ve got to be quiet, darling. Don’t want anyone seeing you all bothered, do you?”

He slipped the tip of his finger into you, lips busy marking your skin with pretty pink and purple spots as he finally, finally gave you what you needed most. You caught your bottom lip between your teeth as he abruptly pushed two fingers inside you, willing your body to not release a sound. 

“Good girl.” He mumbled, rewarding you with a steady pace that had your breath catching. He took his time in his task; it was as if he were in no rush. It was exactly what you didn’t want.

“Brad...” He gave no warning as he added a third finger, more than pleased as your slick walls all but strangled his digits. “Please.” His free hand rounded the expanse of your throat, though he did nothing but press his thumb against your pulse. It was the power — the control he had over you. He couldn’t get enough of it.

He flicked his thumb over your clit, rubbing gentle, unforgiving strokes until his name was the only coherent thought you could manage. “Be a good girl baby, come for daddy.”

He was one of those men girls couldn’t keep their eyes off of; one of those men that should wear a warning. Not only was he was the quintessence of breathtaking, he could step into the devil’s place and few would notice a change.

Sadly, you hadn’t known just how simple it was for him.

It started with a few longing gazes and gentle smiles. Then it was silly exchanges, often mixed with laughter and alcohol. It wasn’t long before it became bruising kisses and sinful touches.

And of course, of course, your feelings had become involved. 

When he laughed, it was difficult to ignore your own urge to smile. When his fingers brushed your thigh, how could you keep your breath? When he whispered pretty things to you, how could you not lose your heart to him?

Turns out, it meant nothing to him. Considering he had his tongue shoved down a blonde’s throat. 

“So, is this what you meant when you said you would be busy tonight?” Brad was off the girl in a second, hair mussed and lips swollen. “Oh, Macie, your girlfriend was looking for you.” The blonde had the audacity to look embarrassed for a moment, as if she hadn’t considered her girlfriend finding out about her little make-out session. 

Brad swiped his thumb across his bottom lip, rubbing off the gloss there. You despised the way he still had your stomach twisting and tumbling. He took the time to consider you, as if you were a puzzle he couldn’t quite figure out. “Thought you had a study group tonight, love.”

“Seriously? That’s all you’ve got to say?”

He dropped his shoulder against the wall and lifted the other in a half-hearted shrug. “We never said we were exclusive.” He reached forward, fingers soft as he took your wrist. 

You ripped yourself away from his grasp, scoffing as he acted as if it was nothing. “You’re a dick.”

“Seriously? You want to watch a scary movie after watching Moana?” You turned to face the boy who served as your (daresay, very comfortable) pillow, still appearing quite pleased with himself after his little performance. His eyes danced playfully, his hold around you tightening for just a fraction of a second.

“What? You scared?” 

You scoffed and turned back to the television. “You just want an excuse to keep cuddling.”

“You’re damn right I do.”

Sleep teased the edges of your mind, slowly yet surely pulling you closer until your eyes were surely beginning to flutter shut. However, as Brad stopped just outside your apartment and turned to you, sleep was the very last thing on your mind. 

A smile teased at the corners of his lips, swiping his palms down his jeans as he shifted his car into park. “I’m not sure where you are... But I definitely want to do this again.”

You smiled, caring little about whether or not it was little too enthusiastic. How could you? The boy you once only imagined in your dreams actually wished to spend more time with you. “I would love to.” You paused and before you could rethink it, flashed him a wink. “If I get to pay for dinner next time.”

His eyes rolled playfully, head falling back against his headrest as he sent you a goofy glare. “Maybe — no promises.”

It was nearly impossible to wipe the stupid grin on your face. “Deal.”

There was a brief moment of silence as you both simply admired the other, as if committing the others features to memory forever. You had just began working up the will to actually go inside when he took you completely off guard. 

“Can I kiss you right now?” 

That was the moment you realized — falling in love with this boy was going to be the easiest, most beautiful thing you would ever do.

And you were going to love every minute of it. 

“I told you I wasn’t interested in going.” He murmured dangerously low, shoulders hunched forward and messily folding the clothes he’d just brought up from the dryer. 

There was a pause, nervousness fluttering in the pit of your stomach as you hesitated at his bedroom door. “But I thought—,” You managed rather weakly, anxiously picking at the cuticles of your fingernails. 

“Thought what?” His tone was enough to have you flinching back, unaccustomed to this side of Brad. It wasn’t that you were scared — this was merely uncharted territory between the two of you. “I’d be happy to come with you to a wedding because we’ve gone on… What? Four dates?” He scoffed, turning back around to shove a pair of his boxers into a drawer. 

“I just thought it might be nice… After… After what happened with your mom’s sister. I wasn’t trying…” You couldn’t see, but Brad was rolling his eyes. “I wasn’t trying to overstep or anything… Maybe it’d be a nice distraction… A nice moment for us.”

Brad whirled around once more, all the frustration and anger he’d been holding now unleashed. While he knew you meant well and truly didn’t have ill intentions, he couldn’t reign himself in. “Us? Us? There was never an us! We haven’t even fucked yet.” He paused, gaze falling to a spot on the wall behind you. “We’re nothing.”
