I am one of #AudreysChildren β‘
Today I'm seeing a movie about the woman who saved my life when I was a 5 year old leukemia patient.
It comes at a time when my trauma memories are heightened (end of March, early April; when I was diagnosed in the 80s). My cancer battle was the single most defining event in my life.
Dr. Audrey Evans was a pioneer in children's cancer, in neuroblastoma and ALL (Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia, what i had). It is because of her protocol that I am alive today.
On #NationalDoctorsDay, I'd like to thank her for her unwavering dedication to saving children's lives. She passed away in 2022, but I remember her fondly. I was never afraid of her. She was a kind, caring, extremely intelligent woman.
Thank you, Dr. Evans. β‘
