For about a year, since Dec 2012 I have been using windows 7, I was running windows xp. For half of the year I would run Ableton 9 with the same setup. Then I had to reinstall again. That was about a month ago, ever since half a year ago I've been having awful lag with my computer's sound (especially in ableton) Now things got better when I reinstalled, but my computer loves to crash because I use legacy hardware, these bozos around here do not have the soundcard I wish to have and money is tight, so I have to rely on what I have. The problem is, I have built in Reatek soundcard, this is dreadful awful latency when you play keyboard. Something like 16ms on 256 buffer asio4all SB gets me 8mb. Just awful, I'm using a Audigy SE Soundblaster, this card has been flawless for years, but as soon as windows 7 comes along, here we go with crazy problems. I went looking for Daniel K divers, they will not install. It's getting to the point where I can't even enjoy writing music, very frustrating. I'm very close to going back to XP, XP was more realtime than crap windows 7. 7 has it's good points and I'm sure not going to 8. My computer hates my Audigy SE, windows 7 eventually does a BSOD, out the blue (pun intended.) I'm running out of ideas, I can't go back to XP with 2 GB more ram wasted, pretty annoyed. Soundblaster doesn't make a new driver for windows 7, oddly looks like I'm stuck in lagsville. I know Linux is my answer but then I would have to fight with wine, and I don't wish to run ableton on wine. Even net shows might be out until this is remedied.
