AU FELINE 3 - Marchosias, Shamura y Narinder
Another AU swap today, and I was inspired by my own.
Marchosias is a wolf who deserted the deceased vessel of the red crown, the most loyal man, a brother his family decided wasn't worth remembering or even mentioning, a kind and gentle vessel perceived as weak in this world, discarded like trash… That shaped Marchosias's philosophy: the gods just use and use until there's nothing left…
The wolf hid in his former god's old secret place, far from where the sect once stood… on the outskirts of Silk Cradle. The wolf isolated himself for many years, trying to keep his mind off the affairs of the gods… One day, wandering his acres of land, he found a frightened spider-child. The child had dug a poorly hidden tunnel for shelter. The wolf is bitter, but not sadistic.
I helped that boy and took him home. I thought it was just a matter of time before I found his parents or other couples to take care of him, but to my horror, the spiders were in the process of complete extermination. Having that little one meant going against the dictates of the bishops of the Faith, so many choose to abandon them or give them up.
What is the spiders' sin for such a fate?
Nothing… A disproportionate punishment from a larger and stronger being. The purple crown is a vile and despicable creature. To condemn the spiders to extinction on a whim is… Just what I expected from those beasts.
Marchosias kept the child, named Shamura, adorable…
The child grows up and adopts all the wolf's teachings: hopelessness, distrust, a deep hatred for authority figures. Science offers not a drop of relief from his pain, but it does offer him the truth: if he trusts no one, then he can continue living.
The last spider, the last of its kind, killed for no apparent reason… Bitterness grows in that young and talented mind. Marchosias is his world; if he says that everything outside is messed up and repulsive, then it's true.
Despite the hatred instilled by all things ritualistic, Shamura begins to bury the bodies of his loved ones, at least as they would have wanted. He created a giant cemetery, hoping that one day he will be buried with them, so at least he won't be alone…
Shamura learns to fight. Paranoia is a trait he adopted due to the immense mental and emotional burden of his tragedy. Only his older brother "understands" him, and everyone else is wrong. They all want to hurt him, so he will hurt them before that happens.
"You're a parasite, black cat. That crown already had a great owner, and he died young. What kind of monster will you be when you finally get your hands on it?"
Shamura is young and still believes that an infant god can make all the difference. The brat is a manipulator who profits from duels to gain followers. He must remind his brother that this cat is just like his brothers; they will use him, or worse, keep him as a toy until he loses all sense of self.
Shamura believes him, but Narinder is… different…
The purple spider is a passive observer. He saw how Narinder saved a worm from its abusive father, how he helped a frog about to be violated by its own brothers to give it its own forge, how he helped bring justice against one of his brother's witnesses despite his better judgment…
"You defile the eternal rest of my people."
He spat at Narinder when he found him in his brother's domain, reading the obituaries he had written for them.
"Have you come to finish your inept brother's work?"
Unbelievable, the spider thought upon seeing the God of Death. He knew this place was like paradise for someone like him, yet they were there because of his wretched family.
Against his better judgment and Marchosias's stern warnings, he didn't flee the red crown, not now that he knew he was a spider and knew about this graveyard. He would understand until he got bored and left him alone… Despite his contempt, he was still stronger and faster than him.
