I hate that I donāt know the answers to so many of my girlsā questions. Why does soap make your hands clean? Why do your hands get all wrinkly when you shower for too long? The first one was a bit easier to say⦠I just told H that soap makes the water smaller so that it can get into all the little corners of jer hands. Thatās only half of the truth and the oil part is probably the most important one but I have never been good at chemics and my english skills might be good but not that good.
I just donāt want my girls to stop asking questions! But they will stop eventually if every answer they get from me is āthatās a good question. I have no idea why it is that way.ā I hate that children lose interest in science over time but how can I change that if Iām not good enough at science to explain things to them?
I will google a bit more if there are any websites I can look at for easy explanations but so far I only found articles about how apparently most parents struggle with that as well.
I noticed that being away from my family might be harder than I expect it to be. Up until now I never thought homesickness would be a big problem for me but now my parents were away for a week and I realize that there is actually something missing. This is probably more pronounced because I donāt have anything to keep me occupied and I havenāt been talking to people a lot in this last week, but it still shows that I maybe shouldnāt skip posts about homesickness anymore and instead read them when I stumble upon them.
Alright⦠I have been skyping with this other family (after the one I really liked didnt respond anymore and I learned that they left the country for a short while and also wanted to interview mre au pairs) and they are really nice as well!
Only problem is that they have two boys? I am a bit more of a girls person I would say? I am not sure how much of a problem that will be⦠anyome have any experiemce with that?
but I will see whether thats fine when I get to meet them I guess. I am just happy that I have found another family that I like this muchā¦
i have no idea of how the fuck am i going to survive being here for at least another month iāve never been more sad in my entire life

Nothing like ending a long day with a 6 yo throwing herself to the floor because she "needs her bowl of rice"
Being sick as and au pair is no fun at all. All I want to do is be back at home in my bed and have my family around. Meanwhile I'm stuck here with a 11yo demanding dinner after driving through an hour and a half of traffic.
Second incident of the weekend occurred after hm told me I wasnāt needed to babysit. She had me sitting done and began questioning me on my night. I find it so odd when this happens because whenever I volunteer information it seems that she couldnāt care less.
If youāre an au pair I believe you will understand what I mean by we had a āchatā. With my hm she just forces her way into my spaces or traps me into a conversation. Iāve been having this problem over the past few weeks longer even where Iām not getting any food. They are supposed to supply my meals but it seems like Iām paying for the majority myself. I am aware that is my choice to spend the days out. (Lunch is their main meal and thereās not really any dinner) but Iāve asked a few times about leftovers that I could take with me. I mentioned to her that it was becoming expensive for me to buy my lunch out everyday and because of class and etc. I wasnāt able to get back to the house (30+ min drive) she then proceeded to tell me that is was expensive for her also paying for parking.
Note the only time i ever use their money for parking is when I have the kids with me. And that at least she pays for my petrol. Note this is a summary of a 30 min convo about the ins and outs of parking etc but one thing I was struck by is that I donāt drive the car when the kids are at school to get free parking for the day I have to leave it at the school. Her solution to the issue with food was that I make a sandwich and bring it. But I donāt believe that a yogurt for breakfast and a sandwich for lunch is sufficient for a full days food.
