Montreal's Old Port, or "Vieux-Port"; 1872-2014.
Trans-Atlantic ships and train cars in the Port of Montréal, 1872. The Old Port is steeped in history. The first colonists arrived here on the shores of the St. Lawrence River, and it was thanks to the port that old Ville-Marie grew into the thriving international metropolis of modern-day Montréal.
The mission of the Old Port of Montréal Corporation is to manage, develop and hold activities on a large urban site dedicated to recreation, tourism and culture. The site is home to two business units: the Quays of the Old Port of Montréal and the Montréal Science Centre.
