the idol was calmly resting on the desolate rooftop of the company building. it was unusual for jr to be anywhere but at the dormitory on the rare occasions that he had nothing on his schedule, yet here he was– lying on the cold ground, headphones in as he hummed along to the familiar tunes from his playlist, eyes boring into the sky. this secluded spot had become his new favorite to go to whenever he needed to unwind and if someone asked, he'd swear there was no particular reason for it. no specific reason other than… the owner of the shadow that was now looming over him. his eyes flickered to the other's face, a small smile dressing his lips as he pulled his headphones off his ears. “ hey stranger. i can't see your face clearly but those are definitely your drooping shoulders. ”

     the more he stared at the it, the more he felt as though this was a terrible idea. what was meant to be a nice birthday surprise, had turned out to be some disaster cake no matter how much he tried to convince himself that the kirby he’d attempted to carve didn’t look that bad. jr paced back and forth in the lobby, trying to think and instantly a light bulb popped into his head. he had planned to wait for jongin to come back from his schedule for the day to give him the surprise but seeing as he’d showed up early, there was still time for him to grab something from a nearby bakery instead of traumatizing the other with his disaster kirby cake. he was about to turn around and leave when he was met with the familiar face. quickly and carefully, he moved his hands behind his back to hide the cake. “ hey, uh... i thought you wouldn’t be done until like 20 minutes or so! ”
