Net Balance (the boutique sustainability advisory firm I work for) launched a report last night here in Melbourne on how the ASX50 are approaching the new trend of Integrated Reporting.
Interesting conversations and discussions during the launch.
The area I found most interesting is that, once again, businesses are looking for ways to credibly measure and communicate social and environmental performance. Are dollars valid and useful measures? Or are there other ways we need to understand and talk about social and environmental impact?
An encouraging theme to emerge is that input based reporting, i.e. how much money did we give to the community, is being superseded by outcome based reporting, i.e. what did our community investments achieve?
Download the report, have a look, and if you have any thoughts, send them through.
Oh and you can see the tweet stream from the event here: www.twitter.com/NetBalance (that was my job last night for the launch).
