So. Many. Dad. Jokes. And like super weird ones sometimes too. Like your kids alternate between “really? again?!?!” and “dad wtf???” And you love to talk to your kids too... you’ll chat away to your kids before they can even talk and when they’re older you’ll have the most random conversations with them. Like you’ll sit around the dinner table for hours talking about science, history, conspiracy theories, etc, etc like it’s hard to predict because it’s just gonna come out of nowhere... one minute you’ll be talking about what they did at school and the next you’ll be two hours into a conversation about UFO sightings. That being said your love for your kids is so soft and caring. Nothing pains you more than seeing your kid crying and you’re the one your kids come to for a hug when they’re feeling down. You’re also super patient and don’t lose your temper much. However you really need to remember to take time for yourself. You need it emotionally and you can explode if you take too much crap. And kids shovel crap at you tbh. So take that time every now and then to chill out and try and not bottle all your frustration all the time. Your kids will remember you as the one who taught them to say what they think and to be true to themselves.

You’re an Earth Mother. You’re soft, caring and artistic. You encourage creativity in your kids, lots of arts and crafts and baking together. You’re good with emotions and you try your utmost to solve problems without yelling or arguing. Parenthood suits you! You always look like you have everything under control even if everything is total chaos. You treat your friends like family so your kids will know your friends as “aunty [name]” or “uncle [name]” and if they have kids you’ll be a tight knit group who can support each other. Remember to use this support and go and ask for support. You’re gonna look like you’re on top of everything so asking is important. Your kids are going to remember you as the calm in the chaos and the person who taught them that there is strength in being gentle.

You don’t let people in very often but with your kids you don’t have that problem. Your kids are like an extension of yourself and so you consider them within your walls that you’ve built around yourself. On the outside though you appear warm and friendly to everyone so you’re likely to have many acquaintances and your kids learn to socialise very well. Your kids always know you have their back and you become a little team against the rest of the world. You do need to remember that they will eventually move out and start their own lives and as much as it will be painful for you, you have it within you to be supportive and to be someone they can always fall back on if things go wrong. Remember this and they will remember you as the one who taught them how to not be taken advantage of and how to keep their heart guarded without becoming cold.

To others you might come across with a hard shell, most of the moms at your kids school want to know you but you only have a few, very close friends and keep your distance from everyone else. With your kids though you’re like a whole other person. You’re gentle and caring and slightly eccentric, but not so much that it affects your kids negatively. You nurture them but not in the typical sense: you encourage interests and passion. You’re the type to silently provide snacks and juice/coffee (depends on age) while they’re engrossed in a project for school or practising a craft (art, writing, instrument, etc). You nurture their individuality and you can be fierce in defending them from other people’s “concerns”. You don’t buckle to peer pressure so other peoples “suggestions” are usually met with a Look before you go ahead and do what you were going to do anyway. Your kids will remember you as the one who taught them to forge their own path and screw what anyone else thinks.

Your kids are your treasures. It can take a lot to get close to you but from the moment your kids are born you hold them like the precious jewels they are to you and that never changes no matter how old they get. You have an inner child and a “weird” side that makes you just the most fun to your kids. Tickle fights, water pistols, running around the park, you and your kids are always laughing. Even when you’re dead on your feet from exhaustion they’ll be begging you to play with them and you’ll always give in because how could you say no to those faces? You’re fair when it comes to consequences and you believe that the “punishment should fit the crime”. Make a mess? Clean it up. Break something? Save up pocket money to replace it. You have a passionate heart so remember to let it show in the tough times as well as the good! Your kids will remember you as the one who always made time for them and put them first.

You might freak out a bit when your kid is born because it turns your world upside down, but breathe, you’ve got this. You’ve got a knack for juggling many skills at once, and you keep a very stoic appearance. You’re the one who always looks like they have everything together even if you don’t. You’re very patient with your kids and you love them with an intensity that means you throw your all into raising them. Remember to listen to them though, sometimes kids can teach you as much as you teach them so when you find yourself in an argument or tough situation, try tapping into your natural patient side and really listen to them. You often feel like you’re in the right all the time, and tbh you usually are, but your kids will be more likely to listen to your wisdom if they feel heard. If you remember this patience you’ll be remembered as the one who taught them to stand on their own two feet and juggle the many responsibilities of life.

You’re not what is considered a “natural” parent, it doesn’t come easy to you. But that doesn’t matter because it’s in your instincts to work hard for what you want. You want to be a good parent? You’ll work your arse off to be one. And you’ll succeed because really? That’s what parenting is all about. You’ll learn just as much from your kids as they learn from you. You will give them the routine that will help them grow and make them feel safe. They will bring the chaos that you secretly crave but are reluctant to risk. Remember to accept some of that chaos rather than fight it and they will remember you as the one who taught them that you’re never too old to learn and that sometimes you have to admit when you’re wrong, even when it’s hard.

You love making your home. You make if comfy, fun and a place you want to spend time in. You over-prepare and you probably buy things you don’t really need... You over pack for your kids school trips and you plan the most adventurous holidays. There’s no family-package at the travel agents for you. You’re imaginative and you want to encourage your kids to be explorers. And you prepare well-enough that it’s not really as risky as it seems but your kids don’t know that and they love the excitement of it. Who needs to be a tourist somewhere cliche when you could be climbing a mountain or hiking through a forest or staying somewhere where no one speaks your language? Your kids will remember you as the one who taught them to to be adventurous, to take risks, but to be prepared enough to survive them.
